Owning a house in New Zealand's stunning wilderness is a dream for many people, and this is particularly true if that home is as lovely and well-designed as Karangahake House by MAKE Architects. This excellent architecture makes the most of its advantageous location in the Karangahake House New Zealand countryside. It highlights the team's creative abilities behind it while remaining pleasingly subtle on the interior and the outside. Let’s take a look at some of them:
Tiny yet wonderfully constructed, Karangahake House by MAKE Architects has 100m2 of living space. It is surrounded by dense, native forest-covered mountain ranges on New Zealand's North Island's East Coast, across the final bridge into a small East Coast village. This is the kind of house we'd want to live in when we retire to Coolector HQ, with the spectacular views and lofty location.
Magnificent Scenery

Located on the plateau's edge, Karangahake house makes architects look down into a narrow valley below. Even though neighbouring farmlands border it on all sides, this spot seems entirely isolated, with nothing but endless green fields and eternal blue sky to gaze upon.
Views of neighbouring mountains and Mt Te Aroha (Love Mountain) from a historic gold-mining valley on the northern side and a picturesque flowing river on the eastern side were made possible thanks to careful orientation.
The Western setting sun against Mt Karangahake house was a particular request from the customer, and the clever use of space created vignettes of the surrounding scenery. From MAKE Architects, the karangahake house by make architects has a natural wood finish that will grey with time and expose a rustic silver like the traditional "Kiwi Tramper Huts."

Double height open living and kitchen space, a mezzanine above two double bedrooms and a bathroom, and an excellent and multipurpose outdoor room link the main body of the home to the guest room/office with an additional bathroom and laundry/mudroom. The mezzanine offers an open, inviting environment for unplanned encounters with friends and family.
A second hallway-like covered verandah spans the length of the home, providing welcome relief from the summer heat while also blending in with the surrounding hillside scenery.
Ambitions In Architecture

Prefabrication is the appropriate option for MAKE Architects' efficient, economic, and eco-friendly architectural principles, and they collaborate with local partners at 'Welhaus' for prefabrication. Fast joinery and linings could be installed thanks to a prefabricated floor, roof, and wall panel system erected on-site in only four days. This method produced almost little trash on-site, reduced transportation emissions, and saved time and labour costs.
